Senior Programs
With Senior Membership, individuals 65 and older can use all 10th Ave. Athletic Club facilities at reduced rates.
Certified instructors provide participants with a group-exercise environment that enables progressive exercise participation, encourages peer-oriented socialization, and even offers fitness and nutrition education.
Each class is designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and skills required to enhance daily living. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing and a ball are offered for resistance and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.
As participants' conditioning increases, the program expands to more challenging movement exercises that provide additional cardiovascular and muscular benefits.
We offer two different classes aimed specifically to older adults. FUNDamental Fitness is a low to non-impact workout that incorporates cardiovascular, strength conditioning, and stretching exercises. This class can accommodate a wide variety of ages and abilities. Participants can work a their own level and pace while still getting the encouragement and social support of a group.
If you are interested in a more relaxed class, check out Senior Fitness. This class is offered three times a week and is particularly for those interested in maximizing independent living. This class uses a variety of exercises to increase strength, balance, posture, coordination, body awareness, weight transfer, agility, and flexibility. Hand weights, exertubes, and a ball are used for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.
